Using Powerchat alerts and overlays on Android devices

Introduction

Android devices are recommended for IRL Streaming from a phone. They have a wider compatibility over Apple devices, as well as more application options to choose from. Determining which app is right for you depends on your use, and in this page you will learn how to use Powerchat alerts and overlays with each app option.

IRL Pro App

The IRL Pro App is an Android-only option which offers SRTLA bonding over multiple connections, making it a very popular option for IRL Streaming.

To add Powerchat overlays in IRL Pro, click the 'Gear icon' in the top left of the screen, scroll down to 'Overlays', select 'Web Overlays' and then select 'New web overlay'. Here, you can change various options, the most important being the URL field, where you will paste your Powerchat overlay URL of choice from the Overlays tab in your Creator Dashboard. Once you have your settings how you want in IRL Pro, click 'SAVE' at the bottom. Make sure the overlay checkbox by the newly created overlay is checked, and the overlay will be active each time you open IRL Pro.

Prism Live Studio Mobile App

The Prism Live Studio app is available on both Android devices and Apple iPhone devices. It is a very popular and reliable application, which is a bit more simple than the IRL Pro app. It is not to be confused with the Prism Live Studio desktop streaming application.

To add Powerchat overlays in Prism Live Studio, open the application and swipe from right to left on the screen which will display the 'My Studio' page. Click the 'Widget' icon on the right and then select 'Web.' Here you can paste your Powerchat overlay URL of choice from the Overlays tab in your Creator Dashboard. Give it a title, and hit 'Save' in the top right. There will now be a clickable icon under the 'My Studio' header, which when selected will appear on screen where you can move and resize it however you want. Swiping from left to right again, you will notice the icon now has a bright yellow outline under the 'My Studio' header, which indicates it is active and visible on stream. Every time you launch Prism Live Studio, you must swipe from left to right and click the overlay icon to enable it.

Streamlabs Mobile App

The Streamlabs mobile app is available on both Android devices and Apple iPhone devices. Though we personally recommend using one of the two apps above, you may choose to use this app if you wish.

Using Native Powerchat Overlays:

Note: Using Native Powerchat Overlays appears to be broken on the current version of the Streamlabs Mobile App. If using this app is a requirement for you, see the 'Using Native Streamlabs Overlays' option below this.

To add Powerchat overlays in the Streamlabs Mobile App from a fresh installation, open the application and click the hamburger menu (three stacked rectangles) in the top left of the screen. Select 'Scenes' and then 'Create a New Scene.' Here, select the 'Custom' option on the right side of the screen, and then 'Create New Landscape/Portrait Scene.' From here, you must choose an option for which streaming platform you will use.

If this is not a fresh installation, or you have completed the last paragraph, now you will click the hamburger menu (three stacked rectangles) in the top left of the screen. Scroll to Alerts and add your Powerchat overlay URL of choice from the Overlays tab in your Creator Dashboard.

Using Native Streamlabs Overlays:

Powerchat offers the Streamlabs Integration option for various reasons, and that adds the ability for you to use Streamlabs native overlays if you choose to do this. You can link your Powerchat account with your Streamlabs account, and by simply logging in to the Streamlabs mobile app with your Streamlabs account, alerts and data collected on Powerchat will also be sent to your Streamlabs account. This means if you get an alert, it will play in the app as a native Streamlabs alert.

If you choose this option, it's important to note:

• Media will not work. Disable media in your Powerchat dashboard so that you do not scam a supporter.

• Voice selection will not work. It will play with the voice you have selected in the Streamlabs dashboard. Disable voice selection in your Powerchat dashboard.

• Minimum price settings for Text-to-Speech are based on your Streamlabs dashboard setting. Make sure you set the same price on both sites, so the number displayed on your Powerchat page are accurate.

StreamElements

The StreamElements app is the least popular and least recommended. Though the site and service are popular, the application for Android has a 1.5 star rating and several issues according to the reviews. Powerchat does not currently support use in the StreamElements app. You may be able to get it to work through their web-based overlay editor, but it isn't recommended.
