The account security settings can be found in the Account Dashboard portion of the site.
Security questions are required in order to enroll in payment integrations to start getting paid as a Powerchat creator. This is because it helps us validate your identity in the event of an account recovery request.
Security Questions TBA
The first security setting on the Security tab is called Two Factor Authentication or 2FA for short. Powerchat utilized time based rotating authentication methods commonly associated with Authenticator apps. You can set up 2FA in this method using various different apps such as Google Authenticator or Authy. 2FA is required in order to change various settings on your account as well as enroll in payment integrations to start getting paid as a Powerchat creator.
To get started simply click the "Setup 2FA" button. When clicked an email will be sent to your email account with a passcode that will allow you to continue with the 2FA process. This is to ensure that you still have access to your email account before continuing with the process.
Enter the passcode from the email into the box and click the submit button.
Once the passcode is entered from the email, you will then be shown a new window with a QR code (example below with QR code blacked out). Scan this QR code with your authenticator app of choice, such as Google Authenticator or Authy. You can download these from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store on a mobile device. There are also various desktop clients if you choose to use one.
Once you scan the QR code you will see an entry in your authenticator app called "powerchat.live" that will have a code of six numbers which will rotate with time. Enter the code shown on the screen into the box to confirm that you have successfully setup 2FA on your device. Once all 6 numbers are entered, 2FA will be set up on your account. If for any reason this process fails or you cannot set up 2FA and need support, please contact us.
If you succeed in setting up 2FA on your account you will see a green notification box indicating success and the 2FA Setup button will change into a button that says "Unlink 2FA".
Once you have 2FA setup in your authenticator app, we strongly suggest that you create a backup of your 2FA settings in your app by either exporting a local backup (which you can save to an external device that is not your primary device, for example a desktop PC) or by creating a cloud backup. Google Authenticator and Authy both offer cloud backup solutions for your Google and Authy accounts such that if you lose your phone, change phones, etc you can synchronize and recover your authenticator credentials at any time.
In the event that you suspect your account has been compromised or in the even that other users have a valid login session on your account that you no longer wish to grant access to (for example, you login in a public place and forget to log out) you can force logout every session from the account by clicking the "Logout All Sessions" button.
This button will immediately log out all current valid sessions for your user account including your current one as well as any unauthorized or unwanted login sessions. This will force you to log back in and authenticate successfully to your account.
