Using Powerchat alerts and overlays on Apple iPhone devices

Introduction

Apple iPhone devices are not recommended for IRL Streaming because of various Known Apple iPhone Compatibility Issues. This is not isolated to Powerchat, and similar services have similar issues. Because of this, we strongly recommend considering switching to and using an Android device specifically for IRL Streaming. However, if you choose this option, or have no other option, this page will help guide you.

(New) Moblin

Moblin is a newer Apple-exclusive streaming application that appears to have fixed many known issues that other apps have experienced in the past. Because of this, it is the application Powerchat recommends for IRL Streaming on Apple iPhone and Apple iPad devices. This appears to have fixed the known iPhone 13/14 issues that existed with Prism Live Studio as well. To add Powerchat overlays in Moblin, open the application and navigate to 'Settings.' 1. Open 'Scenes' and click 'Widgets' 2. Scroll down and click 'Create' 3. Click the new widget it creates, and then click 'URL' 4. Add your desired Powerchat overlay URL (ex: https://powerchat.live/YOURUSERNAME/tts) 5. Go back to the 'Scenes' page and click one of your scenes (ex: BACK, FRONT) 6. Under 'WIDGETS' click 'Add' and add the Powerchat overlay widget you created. Do this for all your scenes. 7. Send a test alert to make sure it's working.

Prism Live Studio Mobile App

The Prism Live Studio app is available on both Android devices and Apple iPhone devices.

To add Powerchat overlays in Prism Live Studio, open the application and swipe from right to left on the screen which will display the 'My Studio' page. Click the 'Widget' icon on the right and then select 'Web.' Here you can paste your Powerchat overlay URL of choice from the Overlays tab in your Creator Dashboard. Give it a title, and hit 'Save' in the top right. There will now be a clickable icon under the 'My Studio' header, which when selected will appear on screen where you can move and resize it however you want. Swiping from left to right again, you will notice the icon now has a bright yellow outline under the 'My Studio' header, which indicates it is active and visible on stream. Every time you launch Prism Live Studio, you must swipe from left to right and click the overlay icon to enable it.

Streamlabs Mobile App

The Streamlabs mobile app is available on both Android devices and Apple iPhone devices. This version of the app is different from the Android version, and only supports native Streamlabs overlays. You can still choose to use this application by connecting your Powerchat account to your Streamlabs account using the Streamlabs Integration option. This will play the alert as a Streamlabs alert when something happens on Powerchat. It is important that you disable media in your Powerchat dashboard, as it is not supported on Streamlabs. Your Text-to-Speech price will also be determined by the price you have set on Streamlabs, not on Powerchat.

Known Apple iPhone Compatibility Issues

The biggest compatibility issue is that Apple Security features seem to randomly block connections to third-party sites from within apps. Because it appears to be random, you may set everything up, and it may work as expected, and then unexpectedly stop working. Because of this, it is recommended if you begin to experience these issues, start minimizing third-party connections by:

• Disabling media in your Powerchat Dashboard

• Disable TTS voice selection, select one voice and test it, and just use that voice
