Paid Media Settings
A guide to setting up and understanding the Media options
Introduction
Powerchat offers optional paid media support via YouTube, along with several customization and moderation options. Some creators choose to not offer this at all, but most see an increase in support, and charge more than a regular Text-to-Speech message for this service.
The way this works is a user pastes in a YouTube URL when they're sending a Paid Chat Message, typically for an extra fee, and it plays the Audio automatically after their Text-to-Speech message. Optionally, you can choose to display the Video as well, but most people only play the Audio.
All of the Media settings can be found on the TTS Settings Tab in the Powerchat Creator Dashboard.
Media Settings
Media Limit ($): The minimum amount of money required to play a media message.
Extended Media Limit ($): A unique option offered by Powerchat that allows a creator to set a higher second price that offers a longer media duration.
Media Duration (seconds): How long a media message can play before it ends. Example: 45 seconds. A 30 second YouTube media will play and end at 30 seconds, but a 120 second YouTube media will play for 45 seconds and stop.
Extended Media Duration (seconds): How long an 'extended' media message can play before it ends. Example: Normal media set to 45 seconds, extended set to 120. If a user pays the normal price and sends a 120 second video, it will end after 45 seconds. If they pay the extended price, it will play the full 120 seconds.
TOS Protection & Toggles
Media Blacklist: A customizable list that can blcok any YouTube media with a set word in the title from being played. Example: sex would block any YouTube media with the word sex in the title.
Minimum Media Views: A number of minimum views required on a YouTube video before it can be sent as a media message. Examples: Set to 0, a user can upload a brand new video and send it as a media message. Set to 10000, the video needs to have 10000 views before it can be sent to you as a media message.
Enable Profanity Media Blacklist: Uses our custom list to block various potentially offensive words in YouTube media titles.
Media Enabled: Gives you the option to disable media entirely if you don't want to have it enabled.
Show Media Video: (Disabled by Default) Displays the YouTube Video instead of just the Audio. Though generally safe, this is considered risky as a bad faith actor could attempt to send a video with something that could get you banned on various popular platforms.
